The sweet spot for home turntable enthusiasts on a budget seems to be the $200 mark. This might be the best of the bunch.

One can only imagine the sake-fueled club hopping that led to the development of the Seiko Frequency drum machine watch.

LEDhead: Classic Handheld Electronic Game Re-Creations

Mattel Football

LEDhead is a software simulation of twelve classic Mattel LED games from the 1970s and 1980s. It was created by Peter Hirschberg, who contributed several brilliant images to my upcoming book (including the one featured here).

Peter re-drew the artwork and reverse engineered the game play to make these as faithful to the originals as possible. I owned the Canadian version of Hockey until one fateful day in early 1982, when I decided to take it apart to see how it worked. This is the best way to experience these classics without spending thousands of dollars to acquire them from a collector.

LEDhead is available for Windows, Palm OS, and Pocket PC
