The sweet spot for home turntable enthusiasts on a budget seems to be the $200 mark. This might be the best of the bunch.

One can only imagine the sake-fueled club hopping that led to the development of the Seiko Frequency drum machine watch.

Quasimoto Home Arcade Consoles

Quasicade 2Quasimoto makes the Quasicade line of home arcade systems. They're not cheap, starting at about $1699, but these units are attractive and well-constructed. My fave is the $2199 Quasicade 2. It's a 70 inch tall upright unit that features dual controls (with 20 analog buttons, 6 digital buttons, two eight-way joysticks and two analog sticks), a 27" high-rez monitor, and backlit marquee. You'll have to provide your own PS2, Xbox 360 or MAME emulation system to power the action.

Is a home console worth forking out more than two grand? That's a question only you and your accountant can answer. By the way, it weighs 387 lbs (175 kg), so air shipping in time for Christmas is out of the question.
