Retro Camping at Airstream Europe
By James Grahame
Summer is fast approaching. That usually means it's time to escape my urban cocoon for a few days in the wilderness. We usually go tenting, but if you prefer solid walls and an unforgettable adventure, you should go retro camping in the French Pyrenees. Airstream Europe offers 10 different vintage Airstream campers for your holidaying pleasure. They sleep from one to four people and each pad features a BBQ, sun lounges, and on-site parking.
Belrepayre Airstream & Retro Camping is the brainchild of Perry, who used to run a traveling circus. He encountered his first Airstream in 1979 and became obsessed with these wonderful aluminum monsters. Each of his classic Airstreams offers decor out of the 1960s and 1970s, right down to the B&W television. The campers feature water and electricity as well as built-in washroom. There is also a large shower and WC pavilion at the facility. The campsite is a working farm, so there will be opportunity to pick your own veggies and gather a few fresh eggs, too.
Prices range from 32 - 100 euros per night, depending on the camper and the date of your stay. Be warned that the site is likely to be busy in early August, thanks to the European Airstream meeting. Belrepayre Airstream & Retro Camping is located near Mirepoix, approximately 100 km west of Toulouse.
