The Snapshot Museum
By James Grahame
Giles Perkins just drew my attention to Sonja Campbell's Snapshot Museum, which features a small but growing collection of found and donated snaps. Sadly, our modern preference for digital images is rapidly turning the printed photo into a dying art.
"The collection includes black and white and colour photographs, slides, negatives, Polaroids, Photo booth, albums, vintage camera equipment, home movies and other photographic ephemera.
Snapshots are candid and honest; sometimes bad, sometimes stunning. They have a charming lack of guile and intention. Within the collection there are photographs of outstanding technical and conceptual ability that could rival many acclaimed photographers."
