Few people have heard of it, yet many consider John Blankenbaker's KENBAK-1 to be the first commercial personal computer.

Koss introduced these headphones over 40 years ago, and they remain affordable favorites to this day.

smallformat Magazine Issue #2 Out Now!

The new issue of the superlative smallformat magazine just arrived in my mailbox today.  I'm thrilled to see that the magazine is continuing in its high quality coverage of small format filmmaking, and the stylish (almost explicit!) photographs of old movie making gear.

This issue discusses the use of Super 8 and 16mm film aboard commercial airliners for in-flight movies.  I've always wanted to learn more about this as I have airline prints of both Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back.

You'll follow along on a project to hack a video tap for a 16mm camera, visit a film enthusiasts elaborate home theater, and learn more about the elusive single 8 movie format.

smallformat does a great job of covering issues essential to the modern small format filmmaker, retro as well as new gear, sites for developing and transferring film, and of course life after Kodachrome.  The subscription rate might seem a little spendy, but you just can't get this info anywhere else - editor Jurgen Lossau is clearly putting every dollar he can into publishing a magazine deserving of the noble lineage of film.
