Marshall Arts Retro Imagery
By James Grahame
Marshall Alexander has successfully captured the essence of early 1980s computer art. I'll let him explain: "Growing up in the seventies and eighties, my childhood memories
basically consist of videogames, bright plastic toys and television.
Any time that was left I spent drawing and programming games for my
Commodore 64.
Only two years ago I switched to doing vector illustration, after
learning how to use Adobe Illustrator at a graphic design course I did.
Working with vectors really fitted well with the ideas I had in my mind
and my drawing style, so I really started to enjoy it. One of the first
illustrations I did was a Game & Watch, which got me a lot of
positive reactions, so I did a few more retro toys and kind of stuck
with it since. I've been into the whole retro scene (clothing, music,
games, etcetera) for a couple of years now and there's tons of
excellent material that I'm still rediscovering."
