Few people have heard of it, yet many consider John Blankenbaker's KENBAK-1 to be the first commercial personal computer.

Koss introduced these headphones over 40 years ago, and they remain affordable favorites to this day.

Eveready Does Deco

Eveready

Here's Kitsch Kyle with his latest discovery...

Hey everyone! I'm back after a relaxing holiday. Hopefully all of you are well rested and ready for a gadget filled 2008. I have a fun one to showcase: An Eveready Masterlight flashlight from the late 1930's. Designed to look like a woman's powder case, this ingenious art deco little number hides a high quality flashlight on its underside. Gotcha!

Perfect for those late night trips to the water closet, Eveready not only offers an undercover flashlight but also - depending on your needs - a night light since the top milk glass ball not only glows while the flashlight is functioning, but also acts as the switch. To activate, one only has to pull up on the glass ball.

So smart, so deco, so great. Thank you Eveready, with gadgets like this under your belt it's no wonder you're still in business some seventy odd years later. Till the next post - Keep it Kitchy! Now where did I put that fangled flashlight?

[If you enjoy this sort of thing, more of Kyle's stuff is on display in his Flickr set.]
